Although I continue to be temporarily sidelined in the travel segment of my ministry this summer (due to health), the planning portion goes on. JEMS South America is so pleased to partner this summer with Ms Julie Lowe, a concert pianist who many have come to know through her participation at the Mt Hermon conference.
Julie has a testimony that affirms God's faithfulness through some challenging times in her life. She will be traveling to Brazil in July to four JEMS-partnering churches and to a fifth via her own contacts. Please pray for her as she travels to the cities of Manaus and Castanhal, in the Amazon region; to the cities of São Paulo and Presidente Prudente, in the state of São Paulo; and to the national capital of BrasÃlia. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share in her ministry by the coordination of receiving churches, her travel itinerary and training preparations.
If you haven't heard her testimony, here is a portion of it that can be viewed on Youtube:
As they used to say on ABC Sports, we are "spanning the globe" this summer as the South American Missions Department partners with Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) this July, sending two of our candidates to work with Brazilians in Japan!
One of the candidates is known to many of you as he has volunteered a number of times over the years. Greg Oda is a familiar name. In the photo (right), you can see him working with the church in Assaà in southern Brazil last year. He is pictured to the left side of the photo.
We are disappointed as our plans to send a team this summer to serve the Japanese church in Buenos Aires, as well as a poor community outside of the city, has not panned out. As ever, the challenge is one of finding workers to send to God's harvest field. Please pray that we may be able to minister to these dear ones, both at the church and at the campground, at our next opportunity.
Please pray for our various mission workers as they prepare for their ministry this summer.
By the way, some great new opportunities await as we learn that Brazil has waived its tourist visa requirements for Americans, effective June 17, 2019. (Click on the hyperlink for more information!)
