What does ministry generally look like in South America? Sorry. No images of Christ the Redeemer, Iguaçu Falls or me doing the tango in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. No. Pastor John will be serving directly with the Nikkei and other ethnic communities in Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Feet on the ground, Bible in hand. Please pray with me that the words will come freely and that the Word might go forth with understanding.
I would like prayers especially for my time in Paraguay and Argentina. Though I will have an interpreter in Buenos Aires for Sunday morning worship services (from English to Japanese and to Spanish in two messages), I will have to rely on my yet-to-be-discovered Spanish ability in the normal day to day conversations with leaders and on visitations and Bible studies in Asunción and Buenos Aires.
*Yet to be discovered is a nice way of saying, undiscovered and a good chance that it will be some weird combination of words that are not Spanish. My English speaking contacts in Asunción who provided interpretation in the past are no longer there.
